MONKEY SANCTUARY
Owned by a lovely Dutch couple, the sanctuary is home to various species of local animals. Most have been rescued from the roadside and others, and are then taken care of. Some are released back into the wild after recovery. Animals at the sanctuary include: snakes, crocodiles, monkeys, wild cats, birds and turtles.

 

     
 

STINGLESS BEE CENTRE (ISBC)
A tour is given to visitors where they can see the stingless bees in their habitat. A guide provides you with information on how their hives are maintained and more. Visitors are also enlightened on the role of these bees in food production and more. There is a beautiful walkway leading up to the place as well as a fabulous bamboo hall.

   

 

 

KAKUM NATIONAL PARK
The park is made up of undisturbed virgin rainforest and features different adventures. One can do the canopy walkway, which is suspended between trees at a height of 30 – 40 meters (as seen in the lower picture). Those who are scared of heights also have the option to do a nature walk where you learn some medicinal purposes of various plants.

 

 
 

HANS COTTAGE BOTEL
The Botel has a 2 story outdoor restaurant on stilts with crocodiles all around. All crocodiles at the cottage are said to be friendly. One can even touch them and take pictures.

 
 

CAPE COAST SLAVE CASTLE
The castle was built for the trade in timber and gold, later it was used in the transatlantic slave trade. The first timber construction on the site was erected in 1653 and was later re built in stone.
There is a guided tour, where you will learn a lot about the origins of the slave trade and how it was back then.

 
 

APAM CASTLE AND CHURCH
Fort Patience, which can be seen from the Blue Diamond resort, overlooks a serene fishing bay. The Dutch constructed the fort between 1697 and 1702. Originally called Fort Lijdzaamheid (‘Patience’), the fort was built to secure Dutch trade lines, and to guard its protectorate from its powerful British-controlled neighbors, the Agona and the Fante ethnic groups.
